Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is an altcoin that was created in 2017. BCH was originally designed by bitcoin miners and developers that were interested in the future of Bitcoin (BTC) and its capability to scale effectively.
3. Characteristics of Bitcoin Cash
With many people involved in BTC transactions, the network had higher transaction fees charged. The throughput performance of 7 transactions per second forced many users to search for alternative solutions, like increasing the block size.
In August 2017, the new chain was developed with 8 MB blocks instead of the original 1 MB and was called Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Its increased block size allows up to 2 million transactions per day. Moreover, BCH uses a different algorithm and it also implemented an Emergency Difficulty Adjustment (EDA) which is a new algorithm ensuring normal chain work in the event of massive fluctuations of the number of miners. This provided stability to the currency as a whole.
